The Real Driving Chin-ulator: Jay Leno Drives His Oldsmobile Toronado in Gran Turismo 6 [Video]
Jay Leno’s vast car collection has dozens of rides we lust after. But one member of his fleet that’s a cut above the rest (in our opinion, anyway) is his thoroughly-customized1966 Oldsmobile Toronado. For those who aren’t familiar with this goldenOlds, Jay and the guys at hisBig Dog Garageconverted it from front- to rear-wheel-drive, mounting that striking body on a custom chassis featuring a mix ofCorvette C5andC6suspension bits. And they evicted the original425 cubic-inch Oldsmobile Rocket V8in favor ofa twin-turbocharged LS-series V8of nearly the same displacement making right around1,000 horsepower. Rad, no?
Alas, unlessJayandhis wife Mavisdecide to adopt us (Of course, since we’re housebrokenandall our shots are up to date, why wouldn’t they?), it’s unlikely we’ll ever get to drive the real thing. However, wecandrive it in the recently releasedGran Turismo 6for thePlayStation 3. And as it turns out, Jay can drive it in the game, too (though maybe not as neatly as he’d like), in addition to the realMercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo conceptwhich, it turns out, is a 1:1 scale R/C car. Hmmmm…we think we prefer the virtual version of that one…
