Though they aren’t as common as they used to be, “stripper” cars (i.e. completely bereft of all but the most basic equipment and wearing steel wheels and unpainted black plastic bumpers) still hold a sort of subversive appeal in our eyes. They’re automobiles distilled and filtered down to their most raw and elemental forms, building a bridge to the earliest days of motoring that spans the yawning chasm of time and power accessory evolution.

Stripper supercar renderings Mercedes-AMG GT

Now performance and sportscars (at least modern ones) generally aren’t offered as strippers as they are, by their very nature, indulgences. But a Hungarian digital artist by the name of Tamás Samók (who operates under theX-Tomi Designbanner) wondered how the likes of the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 911 and McLaren 650S would look as poverty-spec, dealer-newspaper-ad-bait, back-to-basics machines. Admittedly, some like the Lamborghini Huracan and the Porsche 918 Spyder are inescapably preposterous. But we happen to think others – such as the Jag, Mazda MX-5 and even the Mercedes-AMG GT – look rather righteous riding on steelies. Now if only Mr. Samók would take this experiment a step further and render some supercar interiors with vinyl seats, crank windowsand radio-delete plates
