LUMMA Design Serves Up the E 50 CLR Based on the Mercedes-Benz W212 E-Class Sedan
Winterlingen-based LUMMA Design pumps out some exceptional tuning packages for BMW, Porsche and Mercedes. A couple of years back they celebrated their 20th anniversary but definitely show no sign of slowing down. The LUMMA E 50 CLR is their latest offering, based on the Mercedes-Benz W212 E-Class sedan, and both aesthetic mods and performance tweaks have been extensively calibrated.
Performance options include a special “V-Max” system that allows the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-550 to produce 450 hp, a nice increase over the stock 382 hp rating. If you happen to own any diesel variation, LUMMA offers a “D-Box” that boosts engine output by up to 20%. The company also provides a “GPM-Powermodule” which heightens accelerator response. A special sport exhaust system, made of the finest stainless steel with 4×90 mm end pipes, is also available.
The LUMMA Design aerodynamic package includes a front bumper spoiler with integrated running lights, aggressive side skirts and a sport fender with built-in vents. The backside is equipped with a redesigned bumper with integrated diffuser and trunk lid spoiler. The CLR is dropped 25mm using a special lowering module and rides on 20-inch “Racing Edition” wheels (20×9″ front, 20×10.5″ rear) wrapped in Michelin rubber.
Inside, the LUMMA E50 CLR features a new milled aluminum pedal-set and suede (or optional leather) floor mats. Other possibilities include a suede trunk mat, lighted entrance strips and a 300 km/h speedometer. LUMMA has provided a nice, well-rounded package for the W212 E-Class sedan, but when compared with the offering from BRABUS, or the performance oriented Mercedes E63 AMG, it isn’t blowing away the competition or showing up the original manufacturer.
