Lataro Island Estate is South Pacific Paradise

Ever heard of Vanuatu? It’s a collection of tiny islands northeast of Australia roughly halfway between the Solomon Islands and Fiji. And at the mouth of Shark Bay on the east side of the country’s main island, Espiritu Santo, you’ll find the 800-acre island of Lataro, all of which is currently up for sale!

Though 90% of the island is off limits for building as it is a conservation reserve for the endangered coconut crab, the 10% that isn’t features a posh main compound comprised of four buildings designed in the Balinese style and connected by covered walkways. In addition to the main house, there’s a two-bedroom guest house, a self-contained manager/caretaker’s house, and separate accommodations for up to 18 staff members. Almost all of the island’s electricity is produced by solar panels, while the fresh water is supplied by whatever falls from the sky, meaning this place is as green as it is grand. And at an asking price of $12 million, this private paradise – complete with moorings for multiple yachts and a coral reef just offshore – isn’t as unattainable as you might think.
