HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 (Mk. 4) front 3/4 view

The original Volkswagen Golf R32 was the ultimate evolution of Wolfsburg’s fourth-gen breadwinner, with a snarling 3.2L VR6 sending the better part of 240 horsepower to all four wheels. This limited edition hot hatch is highly coveted by water-cooled VW geeks, and its desirability among collectors will likely only increase with the passage of time. Yet none of that was enough to dissuade HPerformance from hopping up this particular Mk. 4 R32’s chassis with a set of jumbo brake discs, Bilstein dampers and H&R anti-roll bars. Those bits are necessary to rein in the up to 650 horsepower (You can dial it back to “just” 500 horsepower if you feel like it…pansy.) the engine is now capable of making thanks to a Precision turbocharger, an intercooler, beefier connecting rods, high-flow fuel pump, and a performance exhaust system with bypass valves. Sure, all these mods add more than $25,000 to the car’s cost, but lots of folks would end up spending six figures just to keep up with it.
