Hennessey Cadillac CTS-V Wants to Go Hypercar Hunting
The new third-generation Cadillac CTS-V is, in case you haven’t heard, one of the maddest super sedans every let loose upon the population of planet earth. Its electromagnetic suspension dampers, highly functional aerodynamic enhancements and a sociopathic supercharged V8 cribbed from the new Corvette Z06 all work together to give the German super sedan builders fits. So we can only imagine what the things Hennessey has planned for this American Autobahn-stormer will drive M, AMG and quattro GmbH engineers to do; hopefully it doesn’t involve self-harm.
Check it: The Hennessey team plans on adding a bigger front splitter, a bigger rear spoiler and fender flares front and rear to provide room for fatter wheels and tires backed by carbon-ceramic brakes. That chubbier rolling stock will be necessary since the company is also liberating this killer Cadillac’s 6.2L LT4 V8 of its supercharger and substituting a new intake manifold that takes in pressurized air from a pair of turbochargers. Hennessey will also swap in a new camshaft, install higher-flow fuel injectors, port the cylinder heads and perform a few other tricks to unlock a nice, round 1,000 horsepower, which HPE major domo John Hennessey says should be enough to push this American werewolf of a car to 240 mph. That sounds like pure fantasy…right up until the point you remember that they got a prior-generation CTS-V Coupe fitted with their twin-turbo setup on a closed toll road. Hmm, maybe that’s not such a far-fetched target after all…
