Brabus Mercedes-Maybach is a Limousine Scream

Although we still question the wisdom of bringing back the Maybach nameplate just a scant couple of years after it was put out to pasture (again), Mercedes-Benz is committed to making the Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand a going concern. And the division’s current “entry-level” *nudge*nudge*wink*wink* model, the Mercedes-Maybach S600, certainly seems well-qualified to fulfill that mission. But buyers of ultra-luxury sedans are used to excess, and Brabus wants to give them excess upon excess in the form of a tuning package for the Mercedes-Maybach S600.

Naturally, Brabus has come up with a body kit for the extra-special S, but aside from the sinister, AMG-adjacent front fascia, you’d be pretty hard-pressed to spot it. The 21” Brabus “Platinum Edition” Monoblock wheels, on the other hand, are quite obviously not stock, as is the even-fancier leather, Alcantara, wood and other premium materials adorning the spacious interior.

But perhaps the most significant change lies under the hood. Brabus bumps the twin-turbo V12’s displacement up from 5.5L to 6.3L, which – combined with other revisions – elevates output to 888 horsepower and 1,106 lb.-ft of torque. Those monstrous sums, say Brabus, will push this executive cruise missile to 217 mph. Private jet luxury and about half private jet speed on the ground? Sign us up! (Wait, the initiation fee is how much? Er…can we pay it in about, oh…600 monthly installments?)
