Brabus 650 Cabrio is a Sun-Worshipping Weapon

When Mercedes-Benz expanded the new C-Class lineup to include a convertible for the first time, it didn’t take a soothsayer to see a hotted-up Mercedes-AMG version stuffed full of biturbo V8 goodness coming down the pike. And the C63 Cabriolet – particularly in S form – is a mighty tasty top-down bruiser but, as Brabus has shown too many times to count, the tuning firm has never met a Mercedes it couldn’t make more muscular, and this new droptop is no exception.

Labeled simply the Brabus 650 Cabrio, this open air machine makes use of a body kit that’s just a bit bolder than the stock AMG pieces, 20” forged Brabus wheels, upgraded brakes, tailpipes that smoothly integrate into the rear diffuser and a reupholstered interior that, in this case, features black leather with bright blue accents. Of course, some of the biggest changes are found under the hood, and they allow the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 to produce 641 horsepower (which translates to 650 ponies of the metric persuasion, hence the model name) and 605 lb.-ft of torque. Brabus says that added thrust will thrust the 650 Cabrio to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds on the way up to a 199 mph top speed. Summer can’t come soon enough!
